I'm an entrepreneur who is curious about the world. I read Thinking Fast and Slow and then The Black Swan and realized that we all see what we want to see, we aren't really equipped to see reality as it is. I like skeptical empiricism and stoicism - they help get the emotion out of conversations. I try to see things using data rather than my own biased beliefs. That means I need to change my beliefs when I get new data that contradicts what I believed before.
I wrote a book on climate change in 1991, explaining that CO2 is going to cause a lot of damage and suffering in the future. In 2015, I revisited my views, spent a year looking at the data, and learned that I had been lied to. Since then, I have been trying to find the truth by discarding more and more commonly held beliefs. I write a weekly climate/energy blog, and you can find my work on climate at www.climatecurious.com . The rest of my work is at www.dsiegel.com
I believe strongly that we should all own our own data and be self-sovereign. You can learn about that at www.giordano.institute
I enjoy starting companies, and in the future I want to start several nonprofits. You can learn about that vision here:
